Inception is seeking a highly proficient and accomplished Applied Scientist with a proven track record in developing efficient deep-learning and generative AI algorithms, specifically in the areas of audio & speech processing and computer vision. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our product development teams, applying emerging technologies to create innovative solutions in Deepfake Video generation, Text-to-Speech (TTS), Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), and other related applications. Inception, the UAE’s national-scale enabler in AI R&D, partners with Microsoft's AI SaaS and focuses on domain-specific models, AI incubation, and IP creation, aiming to be the premier AI Platform-as-a-Service for businesses and developers.
The responsibilities have been adjusted to highlight the specific focus on audio, speech, and computer vision, with an emphasis on the mentioned applications:
- Research and Development: Design, analyze, and optimize research in deep learning and generative AI, particularly focusing on computer vision and audio/speech processing, to develop state-of-the-art algorithms and models for applications like Deepfake Video generation, TTS, and ASR. This includes staying informed of emerging trends, understanding and manipulating complex datasets, and conceptualizing models that are both innovative and applicable to real-world scenarios.
- Multimodal Integration: Develop comprehensive AI solutions that integrate visual and audio data, enhancing the understanding and interaction between different modalities, such as text, audio, and video, to improve human-machine interactions.
- Collaboration and Implementation: Collaborate with researchers and engineers across teams at Inception for the design, development, and continual improvement of AI algorithms, ensuring the implementations are optimized for efficiency, reliability, and scalability, with a focus on computer vision and speech technologies.
- Product Integration and POCs: Work alongside product development teams to integrate new algorithms and models into broader product offerings, and conduct Proofs of Concept (POCs) as per client needs, ensuring that these innovations translate into tangible benefits for users and stakeholders, particularly in areas such as Deepfake detection, speech synthesis, and speech recognition.
- Business Application: Identify and propose scenarios where AI techniques in computer vision and speech can improve the efficiency of the customer’s business, serving pivotal industries such as finance, oil and gas, environmental science, and healthcare, thereby driving forward the frontier of impactful AI solutions in real-world scenarios.
- Technical Support: Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support to the business development team, offering insights and solutions in audio & speech and computer vision to enhance client interactions and support.
The qualifications have been refined to focus on the specific expertise required, with an emphasis on the latest trends and technologies:
Required:
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, or AI-related field, with a specialization in Computer Vision and/or Speech and Audio Processing.
At least 6 years of experience in developing deep-learning and generative AI algorithms specifically for computer vision and audio/speech processing applications, with a focus on Deepfake technology, TTS, ASR, or related fields.
A proven track record of research and development, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals or significant contributions to product-driven R&D, particularly in areas involving generative models like GANs, transformers, and diffusion models.
Ideally:
A passion for exploring new technologies and solving complex problems in computer vision and speech processing, with a curious and inquisitive approach to problem-solving.
Deep understanding of the latest trends and advancements in generative AI, computer vision, and speech technologies, including familiarity with tools and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, and signal processing techniques such as MFCCs.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, supporting business development efforts.
